Question: What is the difference between a Siemens CX5-2 (Antares) and a C5-2 (Antares) or a Siemens VFX13-5 (Antares) and a VF13-5 (Antares)? Answer: The "X" in the model designation stands for a Matrix Array Transducer.
Next question: Is a Matrix Array Transducer better than a reqular transducer?
Answer: A Matrix Array Transducer is generally the probe of choice, (if the system supports it) as the Axial Resolution is much greater than a "similar" or "regular" transducer.
Next question: What is "Axial Resolution" and why is it important to have a transducer with Matrix Array Technology?
Answer: "Axial resolution is the minimum separation between two interfaces located in a direction parallel to the beam (objects above and below each other) so that they can be imaged as two different interfaces." So...the better the Axial Resolution, the better the ability to distinguish between two objects close to one another.
